PTD R56 HSS Blacksmith Deming Drill
The Precision Twist R56 Jobber-length, uncoated, general-purpose, round shank drill bit drills holes into a wide variety of metals and synthetic materials with the best performance with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, and nickel. It can drill to a depth up to four times the diameter of the drill size. Black oxide also helps to prevent buildup and welding of material on the cutting edge when working with iron and steel. Reduced shanks are smaller than the drill diameter, so they can drill holes larger than the typical chuck capacity. These are sometimes called Silver and Deming drills, they used to be made by Silver and Deming in the late 1800s, but nowadays, its come to mean any reduced shank twist drill bit.
Features:
- These drills are designed to expand the size range capacity of a 1/2'' portable drill chuck
- Ideal for drilling in low and medium tensile strength materials
- High-speed steel (HSS) provides good wear resistance and can be used in general purpose applications on both ferrous and nonferrous materials
- Bright provides a smooth, polished finish on the tool. It increases chip flow in softer materials such as aluminium, wood and plastic
- Straight shanks are used for general purpose applications. The shank is smaller than the drill bit diameter. They are used with portable drills and drill presses on ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Spiral flute reamers are used in blind and through-hole operations. They are used to bridge interrupted cuts
