These firm joint type calipers are held together by means of a large headed nut and screw, with fibre washers interposed between contacting faces to provide a firm friction joint which is rigid and without play. The nominal size of firm joint calipers is the distance between the centre of the nut to the point of the leg. This measurement is the effective capacity
